Anti-‘76k’ing Measures - 26 Oct 2009

As many of you know, since the opening of PvP Worlds, ‘76k’ing has become a very common practice. We’ve never been happy about this as we believe it spoils the game experience for players who want to play on PvP Worlds as intended and exhibit their PvP skills, with high rewards for high risks, rather than it being a safe method for earning large amounts of money. Looking at our forums, it looks like many players feel the same way.
Designing and developing a solution to this issue that worked, but which did not lessen the rewards for legitimate kills, turned out to be rather tricky. We’re hopeful that the solution we’ve come up with will reduce 76King without having too significant an impact on legitimate PKers.
Players who trade kills will find that the drop they receive is lessened in value. Legitimate PKers might find that some of their kills will result in smaller drops (e.g. when getting revenge on someone who has just killed you), but since you’ll still only lose as much Earning Potential as is used for the drop, your average drop will stay the same.

I think you should bring back old wildy. Stuff PvP and that. If you go North and across the ditch then your puttin yourself at risk. If you kill someone they should drop what they got and if you die then you drop what you had. Instead of you kill some one and get sumats crap!

Look, as much as I love wildy, it's a friggen joke now. Jagex are too protective over their Real-life Trading and Scamming laws that they will probly never change wildy back. So I guess we have to deal with our 4m+ risks for a drop like trout..

Ok first of all this is stupid, why do we waist our time pking on pures ect. and get bull**** drops but when we die we lose everything and the player that kills us gets trout. end of story.

this is good for some people and not so good for other people its good for me cause i wasted so much money on food and other stuff to pk and i ALWAYS GET A HARD TARGET not even kidding and when u tele some where after getting ep up it go down and lots of time u waste more money gettting ep up then u should i lost 4mill or pking and i got 1.3mill of a drop =_= so this is good for me

i completely agree with colossal! the old wildi was better. sure it was easier to lure ppl and stuff but. the old rs was way better. i played way more i had more membered accounts. the trade limit i think was a good idea. although i do believe you should let players play not set, set prices. let the market balance itself. PLEASE JAGEX CONSIDER THE OLD WILDI! DIE WITH A WHIP, GET A WHIP!!!!!

Anon - "bad- best way to make money in the game" it was not the best way to make money half the time it was **** i only ever did it like 3 times and once i lost money and the other 2 times i basically broke even and i was 100ep but i no some1 who got 1m from it but there are plenty of better money making ways where you actually no how much money you are going to make per hour or per whatever and it was never worth the risk if you died you were farked cause you would of had your best items on you at the time so its just stupid so sooking that its gone one of the best updates in a while. what i want to know is why the fudge did they take away old wild in the first place its not like people could of gained money from it well not they couldnt but what would come from person would go to the other e.g if some1 had a whip and guy killed him he gets whip so its balanced there is still same amount of money in rs. BRING IT BACK!!! PLZ

lol good i quitted rs a long time ago or i had to see the last cool thing dissappear. **** runescape. the only fun thing to do was when i played 76k and try to get an ags for cool stuff. but also that's gone now. for the addicts it's time to go woodcut which is really no life because you click on pixel tree's for days. don't take offence by this comment, but i have alot of better things to do then watch a screen with pixels.

Tbh i think it is complete garbage, i am level 137 and for some one to sit here and say that 76king is for poor noobs with no skill is stupid. Beacuse i deffinitly have plenty of skill and my new worth is far over 300-400m, so its not just for poor noobs, i was actually collecting the stuff i got in drops lol.

Over-Kill410: Yes, they do, but what most people dont understand is that only a few people in the merch clan (the owners and ranked members) make all the profit. They buy the items way before telling the clan. That might cause the price to raise a little. Then they tell the clan to buy for max, which makes the prices raise a lot. Then, they sell their items on GE to the clan members for a huge profit (200-300%) and when all is sold, they tell the clan to dump their items. So, without any real demand from the market (because ONLY THE CLAN was buying the item) people can´t sell their items, the price crashes, people lose a lot of money.
If you merch, don´t be greedy and don´t trust anyone who says they can make you tons of money. Like in real life, it´s usually a scam.
If you still want to use a merch clan, then only buy the item on the first day they announce it, and already sell after 1-3 updates. This way you will make some profit and not be stuck with useless items. If you wait longer to sell because you want more profit, you're bound to lose a lot of your cash.

- I've merched on RS for about 5 years but I do think merch clans should be stopped. Not because so many people get rich off them, but because so FEW (ranked) people get rich off them, by making all the other regular "members" buy all THEIR items just before they tell you to dump. I can't help but to see you guys flaming thouse who merch.... its a way to make money you say "It's why even though some people are rich we are still poor." then why don't you try one of their merch clans? I understand the frusteration about not being able to get a item because its being merched, but thats not just runescape its life... thigs arn't always suposed to be easy. (and you probily think i defend merching because i do it but thats where your wrong.... i tried it once and lost big and havn't merched since but i do plan when i have extra money to play the market mabye not with a clan though :P)

76king still works, you just need to think about it. Tbh, I only 76ked when i was bored/lost a whole lot of **** in f2p for my clan. About 3 days ago i made 3.5m off my DP/Minimal amount of EP.

It's why even though some people are rich we are still poor. Hopefully prices will start to settle back down. Those who weren't doing it, I thank you. 76King is made for when you lost atleast 2M+ dieing while fighting targets or regular players. 76King is just ment to use all your Death ep and use it for 76king. Example: You die.. you lose 5M. You have no cash left and u want some cash back. You have just enough for a 76k. Get 100 % ep do 76k once or twice and you basiclly make all your cash back from all the Death ep.
